Silent winds by arqhugo Silent winds by arqhugo
It has been a looooooooooooooong time without shooting, but today, even sick i went to see one of the most beautiful sunsets from 2010 for sure, not only for the color and the magical place, but also from the great company i had.
I was on couch at home, dinking lot's of lemon tea and lot of honey, and i've received a new message. It was my great friend Andy Mumford, talking about taking some shots.
I didn't even think twice!!! All this time without shoot, made me lazy about photography, and uninspired!!
But it took just one phone call, and a perfect combination of an excellent company allied with a brilliant sunset, to trigger the taste of the photo outings!
Once again, thanks a lot my friend!!!

Lovely light on the FG, really adds to the essence of the scene. Not liking the blown highlights in the sky though, could you have blended another exposure for the highlights?

I love the rocks here, they're smooth and glimmering nicely in the lowering sun, great!

I do think you show a little bit too much land and would maybe me better off stepping to the right and loose some land + add some water to the left behind the foreground rock maybe.

Still a great shot!

Optimo click. Conheço bem o local. Os dias têm estado frios, com chuva, vento e constipações à mistura, mas são os melhores para este género de fotografia. As vezes os sacrifícios compensam ;)
As melhoras amigo.

55secs? wow... how many and what kinda filters u used? my guess is on ND8 (-3stops) and and ND400(-9stops) plus polarizer...is that correct?

Hi
Your first part of the answer is correct, i only use for this photo one filter, a Lee 0.9 Graduated Neutral Density hard edge.
If i had used the other filter it would take lots of minutes to get light, we are talking about more 11 stops (9 from hoya and another 2 from polarizer)
This was possible due to 3 factors, 1st low light and foreground a little bit dark, 2nd the ISO 50 setup and 3rd the aperture set to f/18.
All those 3 thinks made this photo as it is.
Cheers and thanks a lot

p.s. - and i used a cable release and set the camera to bulb mode (Canon)
